In order to ensure complete tracking of your course progress we recommend you use a regular internet connection (i.e. not wireless). The minimum hardware and software requirements for all CE Network courses are listed below. Our courses often include sound, video and a variety of interactive exercises, which may require one or more of the free software plug-ins listed.

If you would like to set your system up to ensure you have all the basics for running CE Network courses, review the Hardware/Software requirements, and follow the instructions below for downloading any necessary Plug-ins.


IMPORTANT: We strongly recommend you check the individual course catalog description prior to purchasing a course to be sure of any specific software required. Click on Help or Customer Support if you have difficulty installing software or running a course.

 

Minimum Hardware/Software Requirements

Platform: Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7/ Windows 8
Browser Compatability: Internet Explore Version7 and above
Computer: Pentium 466 MHz processor, 128 MB RAM
Internet Connection: Minimum 56K
Soundcard: A sound card is required for some CE Network courses.

MAC Compatability:



NOTE: If you do not have a sound card, check the catalog descriptions of individual courses to see whether a sound card is necessary for course completion. In some cases, sound is used only to enhance your learning experience - it is not required to complete the course.

Monitor: 256-colour SVGA monitor and screen resolution set to 1024 x 768 or higher
Browsers: Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher

CAUTION: If you are using older versions of Internet Explorer, you may experience periodic browser issues which, while not prohibiting the ability to take a course, may decrease the overall quality of the learning experience. We recommend using only browser versions fully supported by CE Network.

Display Settings / Fonts: Font Size must be set to display Small Fonts. Go to Display Properties in your Control Panel, and choose Settings - Advanced. Change Font Size to Small Fonts. Click Apply, then OK. Restart your computer when prompted.

Free Software Plug-ins
The following free software plug-ins are commonly used in CE Network courses. If you are not sure if you have the required plug-ins, click on the Test button available for each. Follow instructions for downloading only the plug-ins you need.

Note: The installation of these plug-ins may require you to quit and restart your browser. To save you time, make sure you have downloaded all the plug-in installation files that you require before coming back to CE Network.

Flash Compatibility

Some of our courses require the Flash 5 (or higher) plug-in. Click Test for Flash, if you aren't sure if you have it. This will open a new window and a sample flash file. If you see a spinning CE Network logo, you have the Flash plug-in.

If you do not have the Flash plug-in, or would like the latest version, click Get Macromedia Flash Player to download it from Macromedia. Follow the step-by-stepinstructions to download and install the player on your computer.

Adobe Acrobat Reader Compatibility

If you aren't sure if you have the Acrobat Reader plug-in, click on Test for Acrobat. This will open a new window with a sample PDF file. If you see a page of neatly formatted text, you have the Acrobat Reader plug-in.

Note: You may be prompted to "Open" or "Save" the file, in which case you do not have Acrobat Reader.

If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader, or would like the latest version, click Get Acrobat Reader to download it from Adobe. Follow the step-by-step instructions to download and install Reader on your computer. You will be prompted to save the installation file to disk or run the program from its current location. Choose "run this program from its current location". You will be guided through the installation and set-up process

Windows Media Player Compatibility

Windows Media Player
The Windows Media Player comes pre-installed with most versions of the Windows operating system. However, make sure the version you are running is capable of opening the Windows Media Files used in our courses (designed for Version 6.4 of the Player). Click on the Test Media Player button to open a sample Windows Media File. If you see a course video of a narrator discussing tax planning , your version of the Media Player is compatible.

Note: If you receive an error message stating Windows Media Player does not have a "codec" for this particular file or does not understand the file it is opening, you will need to upgrade your Player.

If you do not have Windows Media Player, click Get Windows Media Player to download it from Microsoft.
